Approx. distance of walk - 4 miles. OS map No. 197 SU 987/263
Park in front of the inn, on the grass verge at the side or in the lane.
A mostly level walk, muddy in places, but easy going across farmland and through delightful bluebell woods. Apart from the beginning and the end of the walk is entirely on bridleways so there are no stiles.
1. Leave the pub and turn right, walk up the hill turning left on the signed bridleway at Langhurst Farm. The track passes between farm buildings after which it bears right through a farm gateway, and a short distance ahead, passes through a similar gate. Just before reaching a gateway into the field ahead the track bears right down past woods eventually leading into a field at the bottom. On the right is a small gate into a field, the bridleway is signed. Go through and, keeping close to the hedge on the left, make your way to the far corner where you will see a small path on the left leading up to a forest gate.
2. Follow the track through the bluebell wood, up to the junction of the signed bridleway and turn right. Keep to the main track until it emerges onto a gravel track under power lines then turn left and bear right back into woodland. Keep to the main track, ignoring the side turnings, which eventually takes you past Blackbrook Farm onto a metalled drive and out to meet the lane.
3. Cross over and follow the track ahead back into woods keeping straight ahead at the cross track. A lot of the trees are oak and there are often men to be seen cutting and preparing fencing wood. When you reach the junction of three tracks take the one on the left. After a couple of bends it joins with the cross track. Turn left over the stream following it until it joins with a metalled drive at Crowfold Farm then keep straight ahead, up to the main road and turn left. Cross over walking the short distance back to the pub.
